Flavored Malt Beverages



The Board uses a thorough and public process to explore regulatory issues. Board of Equalization staff plan to meet with businesses, taxpayers, and other interested parties to discuss the application of California’s Alcoholic Beverage Tax to flavored malt beverages. Any member of the public may attend these meetings. After reviewing all input, staff will prepare a report for the Board to consider before it takes final action.

VII. Summary
Board of Equalization staff are just beginning the rulemaking process and the foregoing information identifies only some of the issues and concerns related to the classification taxation of flavored malt beverages. Taxpayers and other interested parties are welcome submit comments or suggestions on this issue and are invited to participate in the interested
parties meeting that is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on February 22, 2007, in Sacramento.
