National Association of Drug Court Professionals

Congress moves to increase funding for key federal programs
The US House’s Labor, Health and Human Services and Education (Labor HHS) Appropriations Subcommittee has unanimously called for more funding for FY 2008 for key federal addiction prevention, treatment and recovery programs. Learn more…

Insurance Equity Campaign Update
The House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health heard testimony on June 15th about H.R. 1424, the Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act of 2007. Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI) testified, "This is an issue fundamentally of civil rights." Kennedy was joined by the other lead co-sponsor of the bill, Rep. Jim Ramstad (R-MN) at the hearing. Learn more…

Methadone Petition Resources
Over 1000 individuals have signed a petition drive organized by the National Alliance of Methadone Advocates directed at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA)’s Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT). The petitioners, many of whom are using methadone in their addiction recovery, calls on the agency not to further restrict the availability of methadone for addiction treatment and recovery in response to the tragic recent death of individuals who have overdosed when using methadone for pain medication or misusing it.
