A government plan to put new health warnings and details of alcohol units on bottles of wine, spirits and beer is in disarray.
The Department of Health is today unveiling what it calls a landmark move to offer clearer information to the public.
However the scheme, which is supported by the country's leading supermarkets, appears doomed from the outset. For it is understood that several of the country's biggest drinks manufacturers - including Diageo - have refused to sign up.
