People living in the north of England are likely to be unhealthier, poorer and live shorter lives than their counterparts in the south, according to Government figures released today.
Almost every indicator analysed in the Health Profile of England 2007 reveals an alarming regional divide in the nation's health and well-being. People in the south live more than two years longer than people in the north, the report shows. Life expectancy for men in the South East is 78.1 years, compared to 75.4 in the North East.
