The Substance Abuse Policy Research Program



In this chapter, leaders of the Substance Abuse Policy Research Program look back at the program, which ended in 2009, and reflect on how the program operated and on what its policy research on tobacco, alcohol, and drugs accomplished. David Altman, executive vice president of the Center for Creative Leadership, was the program’s director; Marjorie Gutman, currently president of Gutman Research Associates, was the co-director; Prabhu Ponkshe, president of Health Matrix, Inc., served as communications  director; Andrea Williams and Susan Frye, both of whom are based at the Center for Creative Leadership, served as the deputy director and grants administrator, respectively.
