The Coalition’s review of alcohol duty has just concluded and it’s come up with a proposal that will affect a very paltry 0.5pc of alcohol sales in Britain.
Strong beer over 7.5pc ABV – the Super-T’s of this world – will see tax rates rise, while duty on weaker brands under 2.8pc strength will fall. All well and good but in the wider scheme of things, just a pint in an ocean of booze.
