Voices for Recovery Features Personal Stories

"Recovery and responsibility was up to me and only ME!! I cannot bring back the past and patch it up, but I can now stand on my own feet and take responsibility for my actions. I live a 12 step program, help others, live independently, responsibly, spiritually, kind to others, love and live life and do the next right thing. The whole key to living clean and sober is being honest with yourself and to others. I love my new life and recovery was painful at the beginning, but the pain was worth it all. Alive and living life on life's terms."

This is just a piece of one of the stories submitted as part of the Voices for Recovery feature on the Recovery Month Web site. To view more stories or submit your own Voices for Recovery, visit: www.recoverymonth.gov/2007/voices/default.aspx.
