
31 July 2008 – New research (1) released today by the Alcohol Education & Rehabilitation (AER) Foundation finds that implementing a volumetric taxation system on alcohol is the most cost-effective and sustainable intervention option to reduce the burden of alcohol-related harm in Australia.
Funded by the AER and led by Associate Professor Christopher Doran from the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre and Associate Professor Theo Vos from the University of Queensland, the Report costs and compares the impact of a range of interventions designed to reduce excess alcohol consumption and the cost burden of associated diseases.
