Why has young people's average consumption risen to nearly 15 units a week? What role does marketing play? Does the rise in home drinking mean more children being affected by parental alcohol use? How can we support the whole family to tackle alcohol-related harms and what support is available for young people who develop problems with alcohol? These issues were discussed and questioned at Alcohol Concern's 2010 annual conference which opened with a keynote speech from Sarah Teather MP, Minister for Children and Families at the Department for Education.
