Alcohol Act meant to discourage liquor consumption - Health MinisterMarch 10, 2008
The Government introduced the Tobacco and Alcohol Act to discourage the use of Alcohol, considering the fact that alcohol is the major reason for domestic violence in rural and urban areas, said Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.
Minister De Silva expressed these sentiments at a ceremony arranged to hand over nutrition packs, chemical mosquito nets and bank accounts to 1,000 pregnant mothers, held at the Urban Botanical Garden, Badulla, to coincide with the International Women’s Day.
