Perinatal alcohol exposure enhances nocistatin levels in adulthood

In earlier experiments perinatal hormonal imprinting by alcohol decreased the hormone content of immune cells for life.

Our data suggest that alcohol consumption during lactation can cause a life-long influence on nocistatin levels in the offspring and most likely modify nocistatin-related functions such as pain tolerance.
